Jahaji Bhai-Anatomy of a Migration
Suresh Pillai presented his documentary film that recaptures the history and distinct ethnic struggles of the Indian communities in Guyana and Trinidad. The screening was followed by an interesting discussion which brought history into present day context. Prior to the film sceening Guyana born poet and novelist, David Dabydeen, read excerpts from his recent novel 'Our Lady of Demerara' in which cultural destitution also plays a major role.

Friends of Tibet Film Festivals

Documentaries and feature films highlighting the Dalai Lama and Tibetan issues were screened in association with The Friends of Tibet during the 'Ocean of Wisdom' photo essay by Suresh Natarajan. Some of the films included: "The Cup" - by Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche,"Kundun" - by Martin Scorsese,"Escape from Tibet" - by Nick Gray and "Tibet: Cry of the Snowlion" - by Tom Peosay.

Merchant Ivory Productions Film Festivals
Movie classics such as ‘Autobiography of a Princess, ‘Shakespearewallah’, and ‘The Householder’ were screened. There was also a tête-à-tête evening with Ismail Merchant, James Ivory, Madhu Jaffery, with a guest appearance by Shashi Kapoor.
